The Centre for Climate and Disaster Resilience is a collaborative think tank committed to enhancing Australia’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate-driven natural disasters. Born out of the catastrophic 2019–20 summer season—characterised by unprecedented bushfires, floods, droughts, and extreme heat—the Centre unites researchers, practitioners, and experts to tackle the complex, interrelated risks intensified by climate change. Positioned at the nexus of science, policy, and community engagement, the Centre fosters evidence-based thinking and cross-sector collaboration. It synthesises insights across disciplines to develop actionable resilience strategies. Guided by First Nations peoples' knowledge, systems thinking, open data principles, and inclusive community engagement, the Centre prioritises diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of its work. It promotes forward-looking planning that embeds resilience into infrastructure, land use, and development decisions. As a hub for thought leadership, the Centre plays a vital role in shaping a cohesive, inclusive, and future-ready vision for climate and disaster resilience across Australia.
